How it works

  1. Show us how a job moves today

From the first call to the final payment: who writes what down, where it lives and where it gets lost. Most owners have never seen it drawn out on one page.

  2. Get a staged plan, not a big-bang switch

We pick the one change that pays back fastest, set it up, train the crew and only then move to the next. Every stage is priced and scoped in writing.

  3. Start with a conversation

No sign-up and no demo funnel. Call, text or email; you'll talk to a senior strategist.

Most trades businesses don't have a marketing problem first. They have a paperwork problem that makes marketing leak. A lead calls while you're on a roof, the message goes on a scrap of paper, and by Thursday nobody can find it. Trades.Digital fixes the office side of the business: where leads land, how jobs get scheduled, how invoices go out and how happy customers get asked for a review.

What "going digital" actually means for a trades company

Going digital means every job has one record that everyone can see, from first call to final payment. It does not mean buying the most expensive platform or replacing the way your techs talk to customers.

For a typical five-truck shop, that one record replaces:

  • the whiteboard in the shop with tomorrow's jobs
  • the carbon-copy work order book in each truck
  • the spreadsheet the office uses to track who still owes money
  • the owner's phone, which holds half the customer history in text threads
  • the memory of whoever remembers to ask for reviews

When those pieces live in one system, three things improve at once: fewer leads fall through the cracks, invoices go out the same day the job finishes, and review requests happen for every job instead of the ones someone remembers.

The four changes we set up

We work in four areas, each with its own page, and you can start with any one of them.

  • Paper to CRM migration: your customer list, equipment details and job history moved into one searchable system, with the crew trained to use it on their phones.
  • Online booking for your customers: a booking page on your website and Google Business Profile, with rules that protect your schedule from impossible requests.
  • Digital quotes, invoices and payments: quotes sent from the job site, invoices sent before the truck leaves the driveway, and card or bank payment links.
  • Review request automation: a text or email that goes to every completed customer at the right moment, asking for an honest review.

If you don't know where to start, the digital operations audit and roadmap puts the order of operations in writing first.

A quick way to find your biggest leak

The fastest win is usually whichever step loses the most money per month, and you can estimate that with a pencil.

Take your last 30 days. Count the calls or messages that never turned into a booked visit because nobody called back. Multiply by your average job value and by the share of callers who usually book. If you missed 12 callers, your average job is worth $650, and you normally book half of the people you speak to, that's roughly 12 × 0.5 × $650 = $3,900 of work in a month that simply evaporated.

Now do the same for unpaid invoices. If $18,000 is sitting more than 30 days late and you pay interest on a line of credit to cover payroll, the lateness itself has a cost. Whichever number is bigger tells you whether to start with the CRM and booking, or with invoicing. Our guide on moving from paper to a CRM walks through this exercise in more detail.

We market and advise; we don't do the trade work

We are a marketing and business consulting service. We set up and connect the systems your office runs on and tie them to how you win customers online. We are not a contractor: we don't install, repair or service equipment, we never send anyone to a job site, and we won't compete with you for work.

We also aren't a software reseller. You sign up for your own software accounts in your company's name and pay the vendor directly, so the data and the logins stay with you if we ever part ways.

Proof from our HVAC work

The clearest evidence for the method comes from results from our HVAC work, where lead volume grew fast enough that paper simply couldn't keep up. CombiBoiler.ca reached 300+ monthly leads, and HVACDeal.ca produced 500+ leads at a 12:1 ROI. Volume like that only pays off when every lead is logged, followed up and invoiced. On the review side, GasBoilers.ca, a gas-boiler division built for CANRO Heat, holds 5.0★ from 76+ Google reviews. See the full picture on our results page.

Across Canada, with local rules in mind

Paperwork rules differ by province. Rebate programs in some provinces now ask for specific details on invoices, Alberta has its own rules for contractors who take money before a job is done, and Quebec expects customer-facing web content in French. Our areas page explains what matters in each province and territory, and the pricing page shows what working with us costs.

Frequently asked questions

What is Trades.Digital?

Trades.Digital is a Canadian digital marketing and business consulting service that helps trades and home-service companies move their office work from paper to digital systems. Its home base is Vancouver, BC; it belongs to the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group, and Ali Sedighi, MBA, runs it.

Are you a contractor or a software company?

Neither. We don't install, repair or service anything, and we don't sell our own software. We help you choose, set up and adopt off-the-shelf tools, and we connect them to your marketing so leads, jobs, invoices and reviews flow through one place.

Which software do you recommend?

It depends on your trade, crew size and accounting setup. We describe options by what they do (field-service CRM, scheduling, invoicing, review requests) and help you compare a short list against your own workflow before you sign anything with a vendor.

How long does it take to get off paper?

A small shop can usually move its customer list and job scheduling in four to eight weeks if someone on your side has a few hours a week. Invoicing and review automation often follow in the next month. Larger teams take longer because training takes longer.

What does it cost?

We work under Trades.Agency family plans, from $1,999 a month (or $1,499 a month billed annually), with GST/HST added by province (GST and QST in Quebec). Software subscriptions are paid to the vendor separately. The first 30-minute consultation is free for eligible trades businesses.

Do you work outside British Columbia?

Yes. We work with trades in all 10 provinces and 3 territories, by video call or in person, and by phone, text, email and screen share. Each region page covers the rules and programs that affect paperwork there.
